Destiny’s Labyrinth by yumiya! An EP review by BenRodz

Destiny’s Labyrinth is the debut EP from Korean-American Christian artist yumiya!, having debuted in 2025, she started to gain traction with her unique flow and catchy but hard hitting lyrics. Something the space doesn’t see much of, yumiya! entered with a bang and is proving that she’s got something to say and that she’s here to stay.

With the year that yumiya! has had, it only made sense for her to finally get comfortable enough in her artistry to release her first project, so what can you expect from this EP?

yumiya! was intentional about creating a story with this project, as we go throughout the five songs, each song presents a different story that ties into the overall theme of Destiny’s Labyrinth, which is her interpretation of how God leads us into our purpose.

The EP starts off strong with “Called by Name”, a song about realizing God’s calling on our life, next up is the first single released for this project “Takeoff”, which is about following God’s plan for your life, it marks your first steps into His calling on your life and following the journey.

The second single “Wasteland” is about encountering the obstacles along the journey of following God’s calling, as we grow in our faith and get closer to God we often find many things occur to try and distract us and deter us from what God has called us to do. This song represents the journey of going through those things and ultimately overcoming them.

Next up is the third and final single “Summit”, a song about no matter how hopeless it may seem, God is with you no matter what, you start to remember His promises and realize that even though it may seem hopeless right now, He has bigger and better plans waiting for you, you just have to trust Him through the ups and downs.

That brings us to the final track on this project, “Written in Stone”, a song about after experiencing the journey that is our walk with God and encountering many things that test our faith, we realize that through it all God was with us and has led us to this place of being confident in our faith.

Destiny’s Labyrinth brings something unique to the table, from the way all the tracks flow endlessly into each other, the melodies, the bars and most importantly the story being told, this is the perfect debut for someone with the crazy potential that yumiya! has.

Sonically I think this project brings out a different side of yumiya!, previous singles she’s released have been more hip hop oriented whereas this EP brings together a combination of her singing, which she’s great at and her rapping which is what she’s known for, proving her versatility as an artist.

On tracks like “Called by Name”, “Summit” and “Written in Stone” we see yumiya! incorporate more singing into her songs which helps set the tone for the more vulnerable songs of the EP.

Paired with her rapping, this EP shows you what happens when an artist takes their time and crafts something that’s not only important to them but will also help resonate with people who have gone through similar struggles.

Whether that’s failing to understand God’s calling on your life or whether things in life have made you weary and you’re finding it hard to trust God through the process, these songs help show that you’re not alone.

What yumiya! has crafted together is a five song project, although it may not seem like much for a debut project from an artist, I feel like Destiny’s Labyrinth is the perfect introduction into yumiya!’s world and who she is as an artist.

If you’re new to yumiya! or if you’ve been a fan, you’re gonna want to give this project a try, it’s so well put together and thought out that it’s the perfect introduction to who yumiya! is as an artist and what the future holds in store
